What did you do in lab today? Today in lab we talked about how the earth rotates and orbits the earth. We took a pre test about what we knew about the way that earth orbits and our distance from earth to things like the clouds, moon and stars. What was the big question? -the sun is at the center of the solar system, -the earth orbits the sun, the moon orbits earth, the moon does not create its own light just reflects light off of the sun which cause moon phases. - the sun creates shadows, depending on what hemisphere your in depends on which way your shadow faces, in iowa your shadow always faces north. eclipses occur when the moon fully blocks the sun in orbit or when the earth fully blocks the moon. equinox happens when the sun is directly in line with the equator. depending on where we are in relation to the equator and what time of year it is effects the amount of daylight we have and the tempature outside.
